I built my first aquaponic system in 1964. It was a science project called "The Carbon dioxide- Oxygen Cycle in Space Travel." I had an aquarium in a sunny window with a hamster on one side and duckweed in stacked trays on the other side, for 66 days. It didn't really work, but the idea was right-on!
