Growing Towers

Started this discussion. Last reply by Paul Marshall Jul 14, 2012. 14 Replies

Has anyone used the Future Growing LLC growing towers in a aquaponics application?   I am putting together a commercial aquaponics greenhouse and would like to use this tower system.

My wife and I are putting together a 4 season commercial solar green house with aquaponics. We are in the research stage and are presently seeking a land purchase for the project. I am interested in vertical growing and deep water culture/raft systems.

Hi Mitchell.  I just googled Future Growing Towers and I think you are talking about what is shown on the Future Growing website, right?  I don't know anyone who is using these, but you might want to post a forum topic and see if anyone bites.  Be cautious about aeroponic  growing techniques applied to aquaponics - the misters will get clogged quickly with fish waste unless you do a very thorough job of filtering.

I'm not a big fan of LEDs at this point in their development.  As best as I can tell from industry talk is that they are great for supplemental light, but for the price they don't match up to HIDs or T5s yet.  If the energy draw of the HID was too much for you, I'd recommend a T5 fixture next.

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.

A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Main page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.
