Interested in getting started in aquaponics, current day job is software developer - when employed.

As a software developer I am wondering if there is any software available to manage an aquaponics site. As a beginner i am not yet aware of what needs to be tracked and monitored, so if anyone wants to send me some comments they would be appreciated.

Hi,   I did not realize you were so close to me, I am in Summerfield about 15 miles south of Ocala.    If you ever get the notion of stopping by just let me know.

Thanks

Kinda of a tricky question,A lot has to do with water parameters  ,and the larger animals tend to not do well in transport.Exactly what is it your trying to do ?The hatchery phase is the hardest part for a commercial operation. It really requires a large volume of water ,not exactly an aquaponics deal.I think small breeders may be the way to go.,I think you should start with grow out then move to breeding,You can purchase grow out craylings for $1 at about an inch you grow out for a year ,sell small ones keep big ones for breeding. There is a reason mike is the only person who has had success.

Welcome Frank,

Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community!  I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics.  There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions.  Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.

A great place to start is to read the “How to Use This Site” link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Main page.  You might also find the “Aquaponic Gardening Rules of Thumb” guidelines helpful.

Please add a profile image, participate and check in with us every day!  We are constantly posting news about aquaponics and the good food movement.

Thanks again for joining us, and I look forward to getting to know you.
