Thanks for joining the Aquaponic Gardening community! I hope you find it a fun place to explore aquaponics. There is a real blend of experienced and new aquapons in this community, so please don’t hesitate to get in there and start asking questions. Everyone is quite happy to help out new members – no question is too basic.
A great place to start is to read the How to Use This Site link on the upper right corner, “Start Here” section of the Main page.

p.s. I am in Colorado and I can tell you that the climate requirements for growing aquaponically in Montana center around the requirements of the 3 elements of an aquaponic - plants, fish and bacteria....all of which generally like to be well above freezing. Aquaponics is usually thought of as a year round activity because it takes about 6 months for the bacteria to get really rocking. If you have, or can build, a greenhouse that is ideal but there are people around here who are growing quite successfully in their garages and basements. You might also consider a system designed to be outside in the summer and come indoors for the winter, such as the AquaBundance system from my company, The Aquaponic Source. Hope this helps!
