Why

Because I felt the need to create some threads or a specific place for me to start compiling info about my systems because other than my blog post about building my 300 gallon system, I don't think I've done a good job of showing what my systems are here (I've got over 100 pages of system thread on my big system over on BYAP but that isn't here.)

For those interested in an abbreviated version of my system thread at least through the first summer, here is a blog where I'm trying to do just that.
TCLynx's Big System, How it all Started

And I'm sure I'll expand to include more ideas later. It will make a good place for people to start threads to ask questions of me specifically as I'm sure to pay more attention to a group I start than the the site in general.

Ok, I'm working on the whole web cam thing for monitoring my fish.  In the mean time, (while I save up some money for the means to wire cameras into fish tanks, the underwater cameras cost a bit more) would anyone be willing to donate to have access to a duck cam?  I'm looking into running the wires and if people are interested I'll work on setting it up on my web site.

Hey! What is Global Warming? It's bloody freezing and winter has not started! Am I in the Sunshine State...in Central Florida? Burr...come back Sun...all is forgiven :-)

Ohh getting cold tonight.
Fish in the big system were still on two feeds a day but they didn't finish their dinner tonight. I've shut off their feeder. 300 gallon system has been on one feed a day for a few days now so they did finish their dinner tonight so I'll have to see if they eat tomorrow night.

No greenhouse this winter. I've thrown some frost blanket over the trellis along the big system and over the heavily bearing papaya so hopefully we will give the tomatoes and papaya a bit longer to ripen before they are too far gone.

I've been trying to put up some of the history here and on my personal web site as well but for anyone wishing to really read the details, the Byap forum has those. Including the fishless cycling process of the pee ponics system as well as the initial cycle up of the big system where I note the dosage amount and day/time and then track the water tests until the levels fall again and I dose again.

Thanks for putting this all together TCLynx. Lots for me to read and learn. I like how you've given a history of your big system, what worked and what didn't.

I hear you there, sister. We all need to support good aquaponics businesses! It only helps this industry grow.

Oh, and I just got a video camera, I guess I'm no longer safe from being caught in embarrassing actions. At least once the cook learns to operate it. I'm still learning myself.

Your Welcome Sylvia, I figure it can only foster good will to share as much info as I can so it is also good business on my side.
