How Do You Plumb Your IBC Fish Tank?

I'll show you mine if you show me yours

I am running 1 1/4". Here is the outside T.

Drilling for the "Electrical" threaded adapter.

Cutting a "skimmer" slot into the inside T which has a NPS threaded side tap for the TA.

The skimmer slot that clears the floaters. If things plug up (never happens) the water will flow over the top of the T and give you a chance to clear the clot before you loose hundreds of gallons on the floor. (one learns a lot in 6 mos of operation)

Pieces parts.

The bottom pick up design (minus the end cap, another trip to the store). Note the 20" of air stones (Walmart) draw the waste to the slotted pu tube due to the heavy current they create and the slots should be at least 1/4" so as to pass the waste on to the GBs. I will post a pic later of the pipe in place with the 3 fake luffahs tied to the T as I don't seem to have one at present

Here are a few more pics of details.

The outside T installed.

The inside T and fake luffas that help keep the skimmer clear and grow bene bacteria.

The pu tube and air stones and happy trout. I changed my air pump to one I got out of the dump (actually I got 2:-) which is far more powerful and the tanks are thus staying much cleaner:
