Thanks for the advice, I think that I will just find a way to separate them some how till I can get a larger system. Does anyone have an success in doing this, so I don't reinvent the wheel?
Fabiola, that will depend on your situation.
Generally it is best NOT to add acid. As your pH drops you will need to add something to bring the pH back up a bit or buffer the pH. If your pH is too high and you are adding acid and then the pH is popping back up or "bouncing" then you may have media that is full of calcium carbonate and you should stop adding acid and get different media.

Even though your fish may be carniverous, if they can't fit it into their mouths, they wont eat it but be careful, some may still try and you may lose two fish. Best to segragate the new fish.
Also remember you will be disrupting the "pecking" order and even though they may not be eaten, they will be harrased and you may lose them to stress.

Can I recommend a net cage or basket to separate fish, Perhaps even floating a laundry basket. Avoid any metal wire in an aquaponics system, galvanized wire will leach zinc which can become toxic to fish.
@Tony Gilliam thanks Tony, that is a good point... I might have to separate them some how but still have them in the same tank; maybe plexiglass dividers or some kind of wire mesh.
Derrick, You must also look at the size of the fish. The larger ones may eat the smaller ones.
I am new to AP and was wondering if it is possible to mix the fish that you have in the fish tank as long as they have similar need (temp, PH, etc.).
