Does anyone know if there is any stage of a camallanus worm that can get into the grow beds? My tropical freshwater community tank definitely has camallanus worm, which I am going to treat with Levimasole HCL. I'm trying to figure out if I need to detach the tank from my grow beds and do hydroponics with them until the parasite issue is resolved in my fish/tank OR if I should treat the whole system, running the medication throught the grow beds, pump, filters (non carbon), tubing, etc.

We have had our aquaponics system for about 8 months and everything was running beautifully...

until I forgot to turn the water off the sump tank and threw everything off. We are in a greenhouse with 3 tanks and about 40 fish between them that feed into 4 4x8 media beds. The beds had several tomato plants flourishing along with cucumbers, kale, swiss chard, lettuce and celery at the time along with one HUGE cherry tomato plant/tree! The beds had several tomato plants flourishing along with cucumbers, kale, swiss chard, lettuce and celery at the time along with one HUGE cherry tomato plant/tree! Well, it has been well over a month now and I cannot get our nitrates up.....they are literally at zero!!! I have added seaweed etc and still nothing. Now we have lost a couple fish and it appears that their poop and stuff is not leaving their tanks so I am wondering if that is possible and what should I do to remedy this. This weekend I am planning on cleaning out tanks but I should be getting some nitrate reading not zero and I should not be seeing all of the crap in their tanks.....Anyone have any advise????? it would be greatly appreciated.

Has anybody ever used this stuff for taping seams of Dura Skrim? I'm building a new raft bed and I would love to use some leftover 6' wide liner that I have on hand, but it's not quite wide enough for the height that I'd like to build it. I'd like to lay two sheets sideways and tape them together.…

Our goal for the Fest is to bring together the top minds, innovators and educators in aquaponics to share their ideas, skills, research and experiences with you. In addition, we want the presentations to be relevant to the issues that this Community is dealing with now and is in search of answers. For instance: for commercial farmers, we are lining up a certification officer to speak about the organic certification process; for teachers, we are bringing in a professional grant writer to speak about the process of finding and writing educational grants, and advanced aquapons will have the opportunity to hear several speakers share their hybrid system designs.

When you come to the Fest, who would you like to hear speak? What topics or issues should be covered?

We want to know! Feel free to share your ideas and suggestions in this forum.

I have been looking for a group that would be willing to do an aquaponics seminar. I teach 6th grade at a low income elementary school in South Sacramento and work with our after school program. This project would do double service; work to improve literacy and give our families a way to help provide food for their families in an environmentally sustainable way [we have a small…

We are looking for a group that does aquaponic classes or seminars that would be willing to conduct an introductory seminar, with perhaps a follow up session, at our school. If you know of anyone, please let me know.
Hello everyone,

Simple greeting. New here and am loving aquaponics and everything. Thinking of starting an aquaponics company here in Long Island, NY if I can. Grow some of the "expensive" greens and herbs for restaurants and sell them direct. Even in our local supermarkets it's around 2.50 for a very small packet of parsley or chives. Considering how quick and huge herbs and veggies can grow, commercially even on small scale (with prices in mind) is viable. Or is…

Hello all,

The wife and I are new to aquaponics. We are both retired and are wanting to grow our own veggies and fish. All and any advice would be much appreciated. I am sorry that we don't have much to offer you, but give us time. Anyway, Namaste and peace.
