Below is the text from an email announcing the annual UVI International Aquaponics and Tilapia Aquaculture Course

Eight weeks. That’s all the time there is before some of you pack your suitcases and travel to St. Croix for the UVI International Aquaponics and Tilapia Aquaculture Course. We are well underway with our preparations, as well as with our regular schedule of work.

This morning we stocked 6 systems with tilapia for a study of swirl separators for solids removal vs. cone bottom clarifiers. We evaluate many different technologies for aquaponic systems and always hope to find more productive or cost effective methods that we can teach you in the class.

The program consists of classroom lectures, laboratory exercises, hands-on field activities and opportunities for social networking. Four instructors teach in their area of specialty and cover all aspects of aquaponics. Principles of design that have been developed over 25 years of research are explained and management practices described – and then applied in the field activities.
